CA Dental Board rejected my OCS permit application - will appreciate guidance

    Hello,

I had taken the DOCS full course work in Nov 2007 in San Diego. In late Dec I received an email form DOCS attorney that DOCS course work has been approved by CA Dental Board for Conscious Sedation License. The email provided guidelines on how to apply. Accordingly, I applied in Dec 29, 2007.

Today I got the following response from CA Dental Board. I have quoted the letter from CA Dental Board ditto:

    Dear Dr. Ganzha,

The Dental Board has received your application for Oral Conscious Sedation (adults) (OCS) permit. As your certificate of completion shows you took the course prior to December 21, 2007, the date the Dental Board approved the Dental Organizations for Conscious Sedation (DOCS) course, we cannot accept your certificate.

Rather than return your application, we will hold it for ninety days (04/21/08). If we receive information from DOCS during this time that you have retaken the course after the Dental Board approval date and received a new certificate, we will issue your OCS (adult) permit. Otherwise, we will refund your $200 application fee.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please feel free to contact Traci Napper at (916) 263-2300 ext. 2333, if you have any questions or need further assistance.

    Sincerely,

    (signed)

    Richard L. Wallinder, Jr.

    Executive Officer

The email from the our attorney did not mention that the coursework taken in San Diego in Nov 2007 was not approved. In fact it expressely mentioned that we should apply for the permit with the course work.

I will greatly appreciate guidance/advice from Dr. Michael Silverman DMD, or any other competent doctor/attorney/DOCS officer.

    Thanks and regards

    Dr. Ganzha
